No Go for Maximo

"GO MAXIMO!" we shouted last night, as we supported our favorite underdogs, Argentine Maximo Gonzalez (who looks an awful lot like our brother-in-law) and the Aussie Samantha Stosur. However, it was an evening full of disappointments. Venus Williams went on to defeat Samantha 6-2, 6-3 to join her sister Serena in the second round at Flushing Meadows. Roger Federer, aiming for his fifth straight U.S. Open title, moved into the next round of the 2008 US Open following a 6-3, 6-0, 6-3 win over Maximo. We left early in the third set to avoid the post-game-rush.

Caffeine: Friend or Foe?

No doubt you've read recent reports that caffeine isn't all that bad and rejoiced over a cup of espresso. Even if you are an exercise-a-holic, doctors say that if caffeine is in your regular diet, it will not act as a dehydrating agent.

Sure this all sounds nice, but can it KILL you? The answer is YES. In fact, if i chugged down 249 cans of Dr. Pepper right now, it will indeed knock me out. Don't believe me? Check out the "Death by Caffeine" calculator, and see what your limit is.

    De-lay Getting Blu-Ray?

As much as Blu-Ray sounds inviting, luxe doesn't come cheap. An average Blu-Ray player costs about $500, and you will need to get new Blu-Ray discs to enjoy its fullest potential. However, for less than 1/4 of the price of a Blu-Ray player, Toshiba (former inventors of the now-defunct HD-DVD) just introduced "XDE" players which "revitalize" your current DVDs, so that you can still get "high-def" pictures on your new big-screens.
Don't throw away your DVD's... just yet.
